A full-bodied stout-like dark mild, excellent head retention, with fruit and nut flavours on the palate. The eponymous dog survived the rough seas off Hunstanton, his master the Revd Doble of Hathern drowning with his wife Violet in an attempted rescue. The double tragedy rocked the village and is commemorated by a brass plaque in the church.

Cask, Newcastle Arms. Deep, dark brown with minimal muddy head. Aroma was stale coffee and roasted malt which continued into the flavour which had some subdued dark fruit and chocolate notes. A drinkable mild, and relatively full for the low ABV.
