Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7
Tap at the brewery - listed as a french saison with coffee, but the bottles say biere de garde, so I’m confused - tastes more like a bdg, I guess - hazy gold - thick.head - the yeast esters and mild.phenolics work surprisingly well with the coffee - it adds some vanilla and bright berry character.that works well with the light nature of the beer - very creamy texture - flavor is light, bright, mildly tart - the mild acidity of the coffee really makes the tartness pop - the coffee is very understated, so the yeast character is still center stage, but the heavier notes of the bean (vanilla) compliment the sweetness in the finish - quite good.
