Bottle from Rheged. Appearance - deep amber to brown. Red chinks. Nose - strawberry, but mostly toffee. Taste - mostly toffee again. Subtle shortbread underneath but toffee dominant. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a long tangy though quite sweet finish Overall - rich but I’d like a bit of biscuit bitterness.

On gravity at Bristol beef festival, 16/3/2013. Amber with a slight, off-white head. Sweetish, with chocolate powder and caramel, nutty malts and a slight savoury edge of green herbs, leading to a lingering, bitter finish. Good.
