Reviving the tradition of this style of beer long before the bigger breweries caught on. Using fresh oysters in the late stages of the boil gives this delicious chocolaty, creamy beer mysterious qualities which, although not scientifically proven, help a couples’ amorousness if not their fertility!

Strong cream head and brown body nearing black. Soft roasted barley aroma. Flavour is mellow barley and coffee hints with a smooth mouthfeel. Perfectly adequate stout but far from interesting.

Catching up on ratings from GBBF 2016. From cask. Looked good, but one of the more disappointing beers at this years festival...

Black beer, white head. Slightly sour, malty smell. Flavour is a touch sour too, roasty malt, chocolate, sour and fruity aftertaste. Decent.

On cask at the Cask and Barrel. Appearance - dark brown to black with red chinks. Nice fawn head. Nose - light iodine and liquorice. Taste - toffee, liquorice, charcoal. Savoury, salty. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - should probably be loaded as a dry stout.

GBBF Day 1. Cask. Clear deep amber beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is light, semi dry and has modest fine carbonation. Mellow dark malts, touch of dark chocolate. Mild and tangy dark fruits. Fine, but like a hundreds of other cask stouts.
