Reviving the tradition of this style of beer long before the bigger breweries caught on. Using fresh oysters in the late stages of the boil gives this delicious chocolaty, creamy beer mysterious qualities which, although not scientifically proven, help a couples’ amorousness if not their fertility!

Sampled @ GBBF Day 2. Clear brown color, virtually no head. Smell and taste malts, caramel, brown malts, malt bitter. Decent body and carbonation. Hmm ok beer, but it doesn’t strike me as a stout but more like a porter or dark mild or something.

Cask at GBBF 2016. It pours clear dark brown with a small beige head. The aroma is toasted, earthy roasted malt, umami, saltiness and some wood. The taste is toasted malt, bitter - sweet, liquorice, roast, burnt fruit cake, treacle and berry skin with a dry toasted finish. Medium body and fine, soft carbonation. Finishes a bit dry perhaps, but overall its not bad.

Cask at the GBBF 2008. Black colour, dark brown in the highlights. Pleasant fruity and roasty aroma with a breath of sea air. The flavour has a moderate and smooth roastiness with a distinct fruity acidity at the side. The oysters don’t come through much though.

Cask at GBBF 2008 Poured very dark brown with little off white head. I get some curly wurly bar, creaminess, nice maltiness and an undercurrent of coffee. This is easy drinking and uncomplicated the bitterness is fine, its an ok beer.
