The very first of the Hobsons deliveries in 1993 and still a firm favourite. Best has lived up to its name and won many awards over the years including CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain, overall Bronze medalist in 1997 and CAMRA West Midlands Champion Bitter in 2012.

The pale brown to amber medium bodied beer has a strong hop character. It's a bitter but with unconventional warm tones of malt that lingers on the palette, the complex malty flavours gives richness, balanced by the clean hoppy finish. A good session bitter brewed with local British hops picked from the farm seven miles down the road in Worcestershire - Fuggles, Goldings, Challenger and Progress.

Half-pint, cask shared with Finn at The Plough. Golden-brown body, clear. Spotty lacing, covering off-white head. Leafy hops on the nose, hints of caramel. Fruity caramel flavours followed by leafy bitterness towards the ending. Nice bitter version. (Worcester 31.01.2020).

Delt med Rune. Gyldenbrun. Så vidt litt skumring. Karamellaroma. Smaken balansert. Mere karamell. Litt kjeks. Behagelig tørr bitter avslutning.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak, London, 25 Nov 2015) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, slightly fruity nose with notes of apricots, citrus and earthy hops. Malty, slightly fruity taste with apricots, citrus, toast and a balanced earthy bitterness in the finish. Light body, quite dry. Well balanced and tasty bitter. Quite nice.

On cask at White Swan, Burntwood Island - Clear red body, thin white head. Nose is malty and a little grassy. Taste is crisp and decent for a bog standard bitter, and was worth a second go.
