Originally brewed for the brewery's launch in 1994, Coaster was named after a style of boat which on occasion can be seen plying its trade near our home at Rock on Cornwall's rugged North Atlantic coast. Brewed to 3.6% ABV but with a generous measure of flavour and light golden hue, Cornish Coaster is both moreish and refreshing and the perfect beer to quench the thirst on a hot summers day.

Coarse white head. Light amber body. Light sweetish malty hoppy floral aroma. Light, soft hoppy taste with straw and malt notes. A bit watery. No real aftertaste. Some cardboard, some driness, and sweetness. Some honey, too. Not bad, but not very exciting. (0.5pt cask at Fox & Anchor. Rerated by mistake at The Warwick Castle, London. Same result.)

Cask-conditioned at the hope & Anchor, Bristol. This didn’t make much impact. Gold with a thin white head. Aroma smelt vaguely of cut grass with a touch of hops. Flavour was of sweet malt with a slightly bitter finish. There are a lot better low strength bitters around.
