The bottle looks normal, the beer in the glass is copper coloured, sweet and alcoholic aroma. Tastes strong and sweet, modest alcoholic. Round and balanced finish. Thats the way a heller bock has to taste!

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of fonefan. Hazy, amber golden with a rough, off-white head. Sweetish aroma of malt and alcohol. Medium body, sweetish and somewhat caramellish maltiness. There’s a vague fusty edge before a dry and hoppy finish. 171207

(swing top bottle, now without the additive “Gräfenberger”) Clear, deep golden colour with a short foamy, slightly off-white head. Sweet malty, slightly toasty aroma with a light hoppy touch and diacetyl. Sweet flavour with a bittering edge, medium to full bodied, smooth carbonation. Robust malty, slightly toasty taste with too obvious notes of diacetyl, which is rather unpleasant. Dry-ish, moderately bitter finish with a present herbal hop-character.

From the tap (in the beergarden at the brewery): Golden coloured, long lasting off-white foam; big hoppy nose, giving way to a chevy, full malty taste, full bodied, very well rounded; bitter-malty and quite dry ending; well hidden alcohol. Great, highly quaffable, deceptive.....
