Bottled. Black beer with a very small, light brown head. Sourish aroma with lots of tar, licorice, coffee and roastiness. The beer has a surprisingly thin body. Flavor with coffee, fruity pine-cones and bitterness. Long, dry and bitter finish. There is an acidity that follows you from the first sniff to the finish, that I think shouldn’t be there, but it is not too unpleasant. (060215)

Sample on tap at the brewpub. Black colour, no head, moderate carbonation. Roasty aroma with notes of tar, liquorice / aniseed dominates. Distinct heavy roastiness from start to finish, bitter and dry, notes of strong coffee. Mouthfeel could have been fuller.

Draught. Black colour, small tan head. Chocolaty, slightly sour aroma. Chocolate flavour, quite bitter. Not unlike a watered-down standard Danish porter.

A pitch black beer with a nice brown head. The aroma is of butter, licorice, and chocolate while the body is dry and roasted with light notes of butter, but the body is thin.
