Cola-dark beer with medium beige head. Aroma is lightly sweet and malty, nicely roasted, slightly sour and overally good. Flavour is too thin, some roastiness and bitterness but nothing more. Quite easy to drink and little too much of carbonation. Simple, light, balanced porter, but I would like to see more effort and courage.

Can, thx to oh6gdx. As 1846 Classic Porter. It pours a very dark brown body under a nice, but diminishing, beige head. Some roasted malt with a little DMS in the aroma. Chocolate, coffee and salty licorice too. The flavor has salty licorice, some roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Fizzy, medium mouthfeel. Roasted, coffee-like finish. Quite decent for a 4.5% macro-brewed porter. (081127)

440ml Can - Dark brown in colour with some red tinges and a lively head. Roasted aroma with malt and some metallic notes. Roasted and slightly bitter taste with malt and some coffee and plain chocolate notes. Not bad for a canned beer.

44cl can of Hartwall 1836 Classic Porter. Dark reddish brown with a thick beige head; extremely malty aroma, with no trace of any roast; very thin, sweet malt flavours, not really a porter; but redeemed by some dry chocolate on the finish.

Can 0,44l called 1836 Classic porter III.. Dark red brown colored. A creamy head leaving filigrees on the glass. Modest sourish aroma. Some coffee in the flavor - but overall watery.

440ml can as 1836 Classic Porter III. Low-level brownish foam over a deep mahogany body. Flashes of sweet malts in aroma. Dark malts at first then the flavour leads in the direction of tart fruits. Some lingering aftertaste. Quite thin palate. Alright, but not what I would call a classic porter (sampled with Finn, Tromsø 06.09.2007).
