Our Head Brewer has combined the finest East Anglian Ale malted barley with a subtle blend of Crystal Malt and Caramalt with McMullen’s own pure spring water. The addition of whole leaf Fuggle, Bramling Cross and Golding Hops at different stages of the brewing process gives a golden bitter with hints of citrus and spicy berries for a well balanced beer.

NL/BEL excursion day minus 1: The King’s Arms, Fitzrovia, London: a small one, hand pulled. Aroma: practically odourless. Appearance: clear, very inviting light sherry, no head to speak of. Palate: light-bodied and slick, soft carbonation; nice lingering dry bite at the finish. Taste: lightly bitter with sweet notes, well-balanced. Biscuit, some astringency, easy drinking.

Cask in a pub - Some bitter hops, smooth malt and a very slight fruityness to what is actually quite a sweet beer. There was a creamy mouthfeel, but I think that was due to the sparkler on the tap. It’s completely inoffensive standard bitter, but has no real interest or flavour for that matter
