3/1/2020. 2004 Vintage. I retrieved this from my Dad's drinks cabinet after he passed away back in 2015, I guess he'd been given it as a present by someone Christmas 2004. It was the only beer he had in the cupboard! Decided to open it today and it's remarkably good for it's age (better than most fresh SN beers I've tried!). Poured clear dark amber with about a 1cm creamy off-white head forming which faded after a minute or two. Very nice aroma, sherry soaked raisins, brown sugar, toffee, bread, sweet malt, light fruity notes and a touch of vanilla. Medium plus sweetness, low bitterness. Medium body, slight sticky texture, soft to flat carbonation. Wasn't expecting this to be any good at all and given it's sentimental origin I kind of regretted opening it, but having done so I'm really pleased I enjoyed it and it's like I've shared a final last beer with my Dad.

Bottle. Vintage 2005. Light red color with a small white head. Aroma of fruit and hops as well as the flavour that ends up bitter. But very nice and smoth with a good balance between sweetnes and bitternes.

Bottle (vintage 2004): Light amber coloured, small foamy layer; fruity nose (oranges, raisins) accompanied by a light herbal hoppiness with a metallic tinge; sweetish bitter flavour, medium bodied; sweet fruity (again oranges, sultanas) finish with a drier hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. No great sensation, but a well drinkable brew...
