Cockney Imperial Stout was born at the request of Mike Wilson, publican and proprietor of Cockney Pub in Århus. Mike talked Niels Jørn into brewing a whole batch of a rich, dark, very strong stout exclusively for his pub. The stout went like wildfire, and 800 litres were sold from a single tap in the small pub in just 5 weeks! Rumors of this amazing stout spread to the rest of the country, convincing Niels that this smooth, black beer should be a constant in the WinterCoat selection. It, like many of WinterCoat's strong beers, goes down deceivingly smoothly.

The thanks go out to whoever brought this to kp’s cellar party. A thick tan head forms easily over htis black brew. Peaty roasty aroma from dark malts dominate. Bitter flavor that follows into a long finish, with just enough underlying malt sweetness to hold this one together nicely.

Bottled (thanks henrikb). Black colour, with yellowish brown, longlasting head. Lovely roasted malt, licorace and caramel in aroma, with weak hints of ash. Flavour is strong roasted malt, smoke from wet wood and ashes. Also some licorace and black coffee noteable. Especially the aftertaste gets wetwood smokeish. Very nice Imperial stout, which hides it’s 8.4% very well. Slightly watery palate, which is among the only weak details in the beer.

Cask at Fynske Øldage, Odense, Denmark. Brownish-black beer with a light brown, creamy head. A little too weak aroma of roasted malt and some chocolate. Bitterness to go with the roasted elements and coffee and chocolate flavor. (051029)

(On tap) I believe 7,5% ABV in my version. Pitch black, perhaps with a wee tint of red. Light brown head that never collapses completely. Lovely notes of roasted - hard roasted - malts adding the typical notions of chocolate and coffee. Some vanilla in there too. Bitter, but not overly so. 040305

Opaque black, good tanned head, lace. Aroma is yeasty, lots of wheat bread. Sweet, yeasty, licorice notes in the finish. Full-bodied. This keg was maybe infected.
