Pasteurized imperial stout with light beige, espresso-like, dense head and near to black colour. Aroma of bitter chocolate, coffee beans, orange peal, banana, black pepper, dates, nutmeg, coffee liqueur. Deep malty taste, bit of iron, oily and granular mouthfeel as typical for a good imperial, chocolatey but not very sweet, creamy, light and relatively brief hop bitterness in the tail along with roasted bitterness but in a gentle, not too pungent way. Not the most complex imperial stout I’ve had but if you are into this style, nearly anything goes and this was after all very enjoyable. A good introduction to the style, perhaps?

330 ml bottle, unfiltered and unpasteurised, at Universitetsbaren, Aarhus. ABV was 7.6%. Served in a Hoegaarden Grand Cru glass. Black colour, big to moderate brown head. The aroma is first fairly fruity for an impy stout, notes of prunes. Also roasty with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice, hints of tar and smoke. The flavour is roasty with notes of coffee and liquorice. Tar and smoke in the finish. Distinct bitterness, but not extreme for an impy stout. Smoke, coffee and bitter hops in the long aftertaste.

A very nice looking and tasting beer but the aroma is very bland. It’s one of those Imperial Stout I can drink several of without getting tired of it.

Bottled at Horsens Beerfestival (brewed by Thisted). Black body with a fine brown head. Aroma is roasted, dark malt, liquorices and coffee with soma alcohol. Flavor is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, some liquorices and rather bitter with a bittersweet warming alcoholic finish. Very nice, but a bit one dimensional.

aroma:something sour-sock / sour-milk in there that i don’t like, apart from that major distraction, decent stoutish aroma. looks : pours dark, dark brown. black in the glass. thick brown-light-brown head. flavor:balanced, ends up with a delicious , little bit sweet very roasted flavor, the beginning is a bit more tame and slightly fruity. also a very subtle sourish thing (milk from aroma) that i don’t like. the flavor after the initial impression, however, is good. palate is a little bubbly, if they could get rid of the sourmilkish thing, this would’ve been a great imp stout. as it is, still good, and a beer to be enjoyed slowly.

Bottled (from Ă–lkonsortiet, Aalborg). Pitch black colour, mediumsized brown foamy/creamy head. Leaves some lace. Aroma is roasted malts, some caramel and quite nice toffeeish notes. Also some very slight notes of metal. Flavour is mild roast, some caramel and quite bigtime metallicness. Toobad, since the metallic notes in the flavour ruins this beer totally. Atleast when cold.

Almost opaque dark brown color, small tan head. Milky, smokey, roasted dark malty aroma. Milky, sweetish stout with light roastyness. Way too sweet for being "Russian Imperial Stout" (as seller claimed).
