Brakspear Special is available from the Bell Street Brewery all year round. Up to four barrels a week will be brewed, which equates to over 1,100 pints. This beer has been brewed by Brakspear for over 40 years, and we're following the original recipe. A truly classic English beer that’s golden red in colour with a well balanced aroma and a hint of sweetness. Full bodied, the initial sweetness gives way to a dry hop bitterness.

Cask at the Wharf, Aalborg, DK. Still, copper-colored beer with a small off-white head. Malty and bitter on the nose, with some pineapple. Same on the flavor, but there are some caramel too there. Medium body and a bitter finish. (060506)

On cask at the wharf, Aalborg. Copper colour with a beige head. Fruity hoppy aroma. Weak fruity and hoppy flavour.

Cask, Guildford Arms, Edinburgh. Clear copper color. Bitter taste, soft and smooth texture, slightly creamy. Decent bitter.

Cask @ Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. Amber colour a little hazy. Beige head. Aroma is fruity and malty with hints of caramel. Malty flavor with nice fruitiness and caramel. Long hoppy aftertaste.

[Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen] A hazy reddish amber beer with a thin lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet and very fruity - and so is the flavor, but it is also very fresh, from a very well balancing hops, which gives it a slight hoppy bitter end. Nice session beer.

Thin, coarse-laced head; dark brown body. Faint sourish aroma. Taste much like aroma: bitter, sourish, thin. Dry aftertaste, with lingering pine needles. Some wood. Not at all bad, but a little boring. (On cask at the Anglesea Arms.)

Gravity cask at Lobster Pot, West Malling This wasn’t kept very well, which is a shame. Dark brown with no head, but I couldn’t finish it. 1/5 Re-rate Cask handpull at Wetherspoon’s Folkestone. Chestnut colour with thin lasting beige head. Attractive yeast/hop/caramel aroma. More yeasty caramel in mouth before a really drying hop finish. Quite a beauty of its style

Cask. Starts off with an astringent bitterness which is quite nice. Turns malty and hop fruity. Dark copper colour, stable white big-bubbled head. White-vinous quality with an uncompromising bitterness.

The aroma is very lightly fruity. The color is an unclear amber and it has a flat head. The flavor is a lovely slightly sweet fruity flavor from a really good malt blend. It also has a really good aroma hops - but it is most significant in the flavor. It ends on a lovely bitterness. All in all a fantastic flavor - but the palate is a little light.
