At times referred to as just Black Sheep Ale (cask).
Our second ever beer. A complex, premium bitter.
Back in the day, Best Bitter was lonely, it needed a companion. We knew we needed a quality, premium strength beer that would stand alongside our cracking session Bitter... we present to you, Black Sheep Ale.
Black Sheep Special Ale is a powerfully flavoured pint that packs a punch with rich fruit aromas and a distinctively smooth, bittersweet taste. As well as the popular cask version, we started bottling this in 1993 and today it is one of the best-selling bottled beers nationally; available in all major supermarkets!

Magus, mõru, linnaseline, karamelline, nats hapukas, veits võine ja diatsetüline. Ok, ilmselt mitte parimas olekus.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 3 August 2022. Deep amber in colour with a thin, off-white, head. A very easy drinking best bitter, with caramel notes throughout, a touch of leafy hop and moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask @ The Moon Under Water, Wolverhampton prior to Derren Brown. Clear gold pour, decent white cap. Standard fruity golden bitter, malt-led with a bitter finish. Ok, but nothing 'special' about it.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours “bitter brown” with a small cream head and good lacing. Malts predominate in the nose. Initially in the mouth it is quite hsarp and bitter, but this quickly fades and some hops make themselves evident upon a malty base. Later on it starts getting sweeter. Finish is bitter and sticky. Pretty much run of the mill / inoffensive.
