Bah Humbug is a brew using not just the traditional malted barley and hops, but also a big sprinkling of cinnamon. The effect of the cinnamon is to give a spicy, almost banana-like flavour as often found on German wheat beers; and this blends with the sweet-honeyed flavours of the Maris Otter barley to create a beer with all the fruit flavours of mince pies, Christmas Pudding and Christmas cake all rolled into one.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Cigarette City. Aroma is strong bread, honey, cinnamon, banana, spice. Appearance is hazy light brown/orange with no sparkle, finger-width off-white head with poor retention and fair lacing. Taste is sweet banana, fruit, spices. Palate is light bodied with creamy texture, soft carbonation and sweet finish. Overall, certainly has the sweetness for the style but a little thin and could use a little bite.

500ml bottle. Pours a clear ruby with a small, creamy, short lived, beige head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, cinnamon and dried fruit. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, dried fruit, cinnamon and a hint of banana with a dry, mildly bitter finish. Light to medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation.

Bottle, 0.50l. Clear ruby brown color with thick creamy tan-like head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of toffee, dark fruits, cinnamon, cloves and herbs. Taste starts with light sweet toffee and cinnamon, follows mild fruity, herbal and a bit papery, while finish is mild bitter. Light to medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Quite tasty, still a bit weak, but better than expected...

Pours a fairly clear ruby red color, darker shade. Topped with a small off-white head. Sweet biscuity aroma, some anise and cinnamon presence with nice chocolate addition - although biscuity feel dominates it. Taste is mildly bittery with fairly spicy presence and a hint of sweetness. Nice liquor aroma, somewhat rum and sherry like. Decent one.

Another Christmas special here, this time from Wychwood brewery. This dark amber beer is spiced with cinnamon, wich leads to quite a dry finish. Mostly bitter taste of this beer is accompanied by the subtle aroma of fruits. Overall, this beer is just lacking something. It’s not bad, but it feels a bit empty and quite bland. Really, nothing to write home about here. It was worth a try but I’d be hard pressed to choose this one again with so many better alternatives available. Was expecting a bit more from this seasonal beer.

Okay beige head and clear copper body. Aroma of sweet cola and vague malts, some fruity esters. Flavour is a lot of fruity esters with a vague malty finish. Watery a bit. Really not that interesting.

(bottle) Clear, dark amber to chestnut colour with a firm, medium-sized and tanned foamy head. Juicy malty aroma with notes of caramel, marmalade, a whiff of cinnamon, nutty accents and fruity hops. Sweet and discreetly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Initially mildly nutty cara-malty taste with a bearable touch of cinnamon and a fruity hoppy background; sweet and delicately bitter finish with notes of toffee and cinnamon. Okay for a Winter-spice beer on a hot summer night. 31.VIII.15

Old rating. 500 ml bottle from Old Town. Clear amber with a modest off-white head that lingers a little bit. Aromas of ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon with some biscuit and toffee notes as well. Taste is more of the same with a watery body. Taste is kind of spice cabinet with some malty sweetness. Not enough body I guess. Easy drinking though.
