Cask at Pied Bull, Chester. Pours a dark copper with a medium sized foamy cream head. The aroma is mainly malts with some hints of chocolate. Malts again in the mouth, along with some general fruitiness, floral hops and thick cut marmalade. Some hints of ginger come through later as well. This is good stuff. Despite being labelled “brown bitter”, I would say this has a lot of characteristics of an ESB.
