This beer is loosely based upon the traditional Belgian-style Saison and blends the aromatics of Belgian yeast with hops from New Zealand and the United States. Legend has it that the style originated from beers brewed at farmhouses in the French-speaking region of Belgium to quench the thirst of the hard-working farmhands. While we don't have farmhands to satisfy, we think the inviting aroma and refreshing dryness of Ichigo Ichie make it a perfect fit for our year round beer menu.

Tap at Gremlin. What are you Kyoto guys doing? How am I rating this first? Aroma is nice, creamy, fruity, strawberry or is it just the name that's doing that? Grainy. Taste is great, bit of citrus, light bitterness, very easy drinking. Light Belgian elements, fruit. Creamy but not sweet. Great stuff.

Tap at Beer Komachi, Kyoto. Poured a hazy light golden straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is grainy malt, yeasty, citrus hop. The flavour is acid, citrus, with a smooth, dry yeast, fruity palate and a lingering dry cheesy yeast finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Superb, Very refreshing and nicely balanced.

Perhaps the best saison I've had. No wonder it's their flagship beer!

Keg at Len - Kyoto. Pours mostly clear yellow-gold with a creamy, pure white head. The nose has decent estery notes, some lemon peel, biscuits, dried wheat. Light sweet flavour with some grassy bitterness, wheat flakes, bitter citrus rind, understated Belgian yeast. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Clean finish with fairly assertive grassy bitterness, more lemon peel, some husky grain, dried wheat bread. Just a touch too bitter, but nice overall.

Draft @ BBP Good Beer Feast 2016, merci à l’équipe Bxl.

Kyoto Brewing Co.’s Ichigo Ichie on tap at Daimaru as part of an event until July 16th. Served in a branded snifter, it’s a glowing cloudy gold with q thick soapy white head. The nose is grassy, peppery, spices with mild funk. The first sip was more bitter than expected with a it of a metallic edge to it. As my palate adjusted I got spice, cinnamon, pepper, citrus and a bit bready wheat with a refreshing dry finish. This is a very solid first core beer from Kyoto Brewing, definitely a winner.
