(750ml sample from Mauro @ Koelschip/magnum or 3L sample @ MBCC, Copenhagen, May 2017) Hazy gold pour with a white head. Lots of barrel character, very white wine-forward, grapes, tart apple, light citrus, saison-like pit fruit notes, a bit sweet and malty, woody, lightly sour, with quite some horse blanket and yeasty notes. Quite dry in the finish, woody, lingering white grape and wine character, persistent funk. Light to medium bodied. Good blend, heavy barrel but not as outright wine-like as many of Raf’s true wine grape lambics, saison component works well here. Very solid.
