Bottle from Best of Beers - Vinspecialisten Aalborg. Smells like chocolate cake right out of the oven. Aroma is creamy milk chocolate, mocha, chocolate cake, vanilla, cappuchino, brownies. Flavour is fairly sweet and nicely bitter. Body is full, very easily drinkable, unbelievable how smooth and un-boozy this is. Pure chocolate heaven.

13/IV/24 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ home, BB: n/a (2024-239)

Clear deep brown beer, no head. Aroma: lots of caramel, dried fruits, figs, cardboard, very oxidized, dusty, some port, walnut liqueur. MF: soft to no carbon, medium body. Taste: a little sweet, oxidized, cardboard, dusty, soft roast, hint of chocolate, lots of dried fruits, a little malty, some chocolate.A aftertaste: sweet, sugary, oxidised, port, some chocolate, caramel, dried fruits, soft roast, alcohol, bitter touch, a little sourish more oxidation. Ok, but not great. This is not one to age for a long time, it seems. Oh well.

170ml, draught at Cafe Sånn, listed with 13.0 % abv. Jet black in the glass, shiny naked surface, scattered lacing. Attractive smooth chocolate-cocoa aromas. Powerful taste of smooth chocolate, cocoa, liquorice and a backdrop of coffee. Velvety roasted malty bitterness to the ending with warmth from the alcohol. Full bodied. Lovely. (Ttromsø 03.01.2023).

From a 330ml can on 15/5/2020 (ABV listed as 12%). My first Mikkeller in quite some time. Pours near black with a small tan head. Has a powerful and lovely aroma of vanilla, cocoa and milk chocolate. Tastes of milk chocolate, fudge vanilla, brown sugar and honey, with a decent roasty, coffee bitterness providing balance to the sweetness. The mouthfeel is slick and syrupy, the carbonation moderate. A truly lovely dessert impy.

Aged bottle, at home, 7th May 2020. Pours black and weirdly gloopy towards the end of the bottle. Aroma is predominantly sweet, honey and chocolate. Taste is cocoa, sweet, some bitterness. I don’t think aging has been kind on this one

Can, 0.33l. Black pour, half finger frothy brown head, medium lasting. Good lacing on the glass. Very good on the nose, strong cocoa notes, wafers, vanilla, nicely balanced. Quite promising. Full body, soft carbonation. Thick and creamy texture, chewy, soft on the palate. Very smooth. Roasty bittersweet taste, a bit more on the sweet side. Very nicely balanced. Rich aroma, toasted caramel, toffee, cocoa powder. Brownies, oats, vanilla. Wafers, bready, biscuity notes. Coffee in the background. Some fruity notes, figs and raisins. Sticky. Subtle alcohol burn on the tongue, nicely warming. Long lasting finish. Rich, complex and tasty. Excellent brew.

Can from Geers, Oostakker. Pours cloudy black with a slowly thinning, frothy, dark beige head. Strong aroma of brownie dough, milk chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, cashew, meringue, biscuit, mocha with sugar. Taste is a thick chocolatey & biscuity sweet profile with a creamy vanilla undertone, somewhat herbal & toasty bitter & very faintly umami soy-like. Dry, toasty, herbal hoppy finish, lingering bitter pure dark chocolate, biscuit & nicely warming whisky alcohol. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Delivers exactly what it promises; sweet & chocolatey without turning into a pastry Stout, never letting go of the distinctive 'Stoutness'.
