(Bottle, 0.65 l, from Alus Celle, at pre HBF2017 Saturday tasting) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had dark chocolate, cocoa, liquorice and burnt malts. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, ash, liquorice, cocoa powder and bitterness. Aftertaste had burnt malts, dark chocolate and bitterness. A well done balanced very strong brew.

Sampled on draft at Vintage Estate this beer poured thick, black and oily with a large creamy dark brown head that lingered and left incredible lacing. The aroma was toasty with cocoa, vanilla, wood and floral hops. The flavor was whiskey, cocoa, vanilla, anise and floral hops. Boozy but in a good way. Very long finish. Full bodied. Outstanding.
