A style I don't have too often but has a nice intense, herbal flavor.

3/4/2026. Can at the Good Friday ITFC beer share. From Seven Cellars, Brighton. Pours well, big head. Aroma is caramel, brown bread, twiggy, berries, raisins. Moderate sweetness, medium to heavy bitterness. Moderate body, average carbonation. Burnt toffee brown sugar finish. Interesting but thought I’d like it more.

(Draft at Sutton Arms, Finsbury, London, 28 May 2025) Ruby/brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with caramel, dark fruit, bread and a slight acidity. Malty, slightly fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, raisins, caramel, bread, a touch of port wine, oak wood and a mild spicy bitterness in a finish with a mild acidity. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well made old ale. Very nice.

Cans from Lupe Pintos. Hazy ruby/brown body with a thick beige head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of nuts, toffee and a hint of cinnamon. Flavour of chocolate, oak and burnt sugar. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Sweet and rich.
