Cotteridge Wines; hazy amber pour with a creamy off white head, aroma has tangerine and some musty pine, taste has smooth malts, sweet marmalade, some tropics, bitter finish, pretty basic stuff.

4th Sep 2017: Shrewsbury Bottle Share in Chez Sophie. 12 fl oz can, cheers Simon for bringing this. Misty pale golden pour, white topping. Tropical fruits to the fore in the nose and taste, another winner from Clown Shoes.

355ml can @ monthly share, Chez Sophie, Sep 17. Pours a hazy gold, small white head. Aroma is surprisingly fruity and juicy, some orange and marmalade also coming through on the palate as well, quite spicy sweet with a robust bitterness, drying close. Decent.

On tap at Red Cow North Loop. Pours a clear yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has notes of earthy and sweet citrus with some grass and bread supporting. Flavor has tropical fruits and earthy citrus with a bread backbone.

7 week old can > tulip A: Pours pale hazy gold with a big pillow of foam retaining well before falling to bubbly froth with sheets of lace. S: Sweet/tart orange or tangerine with a whiff of honey. T: Tart, crisp and bitter but not overly so. A light bready note underneath the citrusy and tropical hops. Nice balance. M: Crisp and light with gentle carbonation and nice dry finish. O: My 1st Clown Shoes beer is a hit! A bit expensive but very well done. Recommended.

Pours hazy gold into a tulip. Bright white head with excellent retention recedes to coat surface. Sour caramel aromas. Soft with sour caramel and marshmallow upfront turning to soft, mild citrus in the lasting finish.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from Greg & Jane’s Beer and Wine. Appearance is hazy light orange with trace sparkle, 3-finger width foamy white head with decent retention and lots of soapy lacing. Aroma is strong (from a foot away) lemon, orange. Taste is strong sweet orange and citrus with late mix of bitter. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, average carbonation and mix of sweet and bitter finish. Overall, highly sessionable, and while not terribly complex it gets high marks for strong, delicious aroma and flavor.

12 ounce can. Hazy medium gold color. Small rocky white head with great clinging lace. Light fruity malt nose hints at tangerine and melon. More light fruity malt in flavor. Pink grapefruit, tangerine, peach and white cherries. Some spicy hop bitterness in middle. Touch of pine and grapefruit peel in finish. Very drinkable with juicy notes.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 4/26/2017. Pours lightly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big apricot, peach, pineapple, papaya, guava, grapefruit, mango, melon, berry, pear, red apple, lemon zest, orange peel, black tea, light pepper/pine, cracker, lightly toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big apricot, peach, pineapple, papaya, guava, grapefruit, mango, melon, berry, pear, red apple, lemon zest, orange peel, black tea, pepper, pine, cracker, lightly toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of apricot, peach, pineapple, papaya, guava, grapefruit, mango, melon, berry, pear, red apple, lemon/orange peel, black tea, pepper, pine, cracker, bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from lingering bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a delicious American pale ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink; with the balanced bitter/drying finish. Very dank, vibrant, and fairly juicy on hops; great malt balance with no residual sweetness. A very enjoyable offering.
