Deep red-brown body, thin light tan head. Rich aroma of dark caramel, toffee, raisin, prune and a hint of coffee and burnt sugar. Drinks like prune juice, with dense raisin and prune mingling with dark caramels and toffee, also offering the coffee hinted at in the aroma. Rather syrupy body. I’ll repeat one word: dense. One of the best American versions of the doppelbock I’ve sampled.

This beer is a dark amber/cola color with a thin beige head. Light lacing. Smoky aroma with malt and caramel. Medium body, with a strange earthy mix of sweet malt, caramel, chocolate and tart fruit. The finish is rather sweet. Overall this is a decent brew but is not up to snuff with the great Doppelbocks.

Paid $3.79 for a 650ml bottle. Pours a deep brown, with a larege head; reminds me of a cold glass of Diet Coke. Smells like roasted malts; nothing extraordinary. Sweet chocolate malts, with lots of caramel, live in this beer. It's rich, but not thick and filling. The alcohol is well masked, with only in the aftertaste does a hint pop in. A fine brew!
