Rich, full bodied and surprisingly smooth, Imperiale Stout has a big roast hit up front. Dark malt flavors are balanced with an ample hop bitterness to finish.

On tap at Alibi Room. Pours a black with a brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, some whiskey notes. Taste is sweet, dark fruits, grains, roasted malt. Totally burnt malt aftertaste. Not enough gravity and complexity as for Imperial Stout. Not bad, though.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a tihck, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, grapes, earth, alcohol, oak, vanilla and a bit of lactose. Medium-bodied; Strong sweetness up front with caramel and vanilla along with the lactose, showing some grape anid pit fruits and a good but shallow malt flavour and some oak and dry roastiness. Aftertaste shows some coffee flavours, a bit of the caramelised sugars, a touch of peat and malt and a little soy sauce bitterness as well. Overall, not as bad as I was expecting from the other reviews, but not great either - I believe the age helped this one out a bit with a very subdued flavour and a nice smooth finish with no harshness at all. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 08-November-2014 for US$6,50 sampled at home in Washington on 18-January-2016.

Bomber from Albertsons. Pours out black with a creamy dark beige head. Body seems a little watery, aroma a nice mixture of roast grains and chocolate, taste echoes the aroma with accents of wood, nutmeg and vanilla. Abrupt finish, little alcohol warmth.

This brew is a pitch black color with a medium beige head that recedes gradually to a wispy film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Roasted malt, dark chocolate and hops in the nose. Medium to full body with a roasty malt and coffee character and notes of chocolate and earthy hops. The finish is roasty with a malt and dark chocolate aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

22oz bomber pours with a nice deep dark mahogany body that supports with a somewhat thin mocha colored head. The aroma offers up an even mix of black licorice, chocolate and dark roasted to burnt maltiness as well as a bit of dark roasted coffee, molasses and more chocolate into the end of the draw. The taste starts with some sweetness, dark roasted malts, some chocolate and black licorice spiciness. It smooths out to midway with some molasses and dark chocolate joining all of the roastiness. Pretty nice.

Dark brown, rich molasses aroma with some nice dark sugars. Medium body for style, but rich slightly sticky texture. A balanced, tasty impy, lighter but really good.
