A golden beer bursting with grapefruit, lemon, apple and rose characters. Our Brewing Director John Bryan has been visiting the Slovenian hop fields regularly for more than 10 years now and is really excited about the varieties that Slovenian growers are producing. Dragon is one of the best of this new wave of Slovenian hops and our single hop cask aged beer displays its qualities to full effect. Hops: Dragon (Slovenia) Malts: Maris Otter and Wheat Malt Allergens: Contains Gluten

Cask at the Royal Standard, Wooburn Common. A pale amber pour with a loose white head; floral aroma, with perhaps a hint of rose; grassy taste with an unusual astringent bitterness; and some damp straw to finish; but actually tasting better than it sounds.

Tap at the Craft Beer Shop, Little Chalfont. Poured a crystal clear straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is gluey skunky malt, big woody hop. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a smooth dry malt, dry woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Very bitter and a little one dimensional. Not Oakham like at alll.

Chelmsfaaarhd Winter Beer Fest. Cask in KEGS. After Wolf hops we have Dragon hops. Can Lion hops and Stag hops be far away? Almost clear gold beer, good bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Honeyish pale malts. Good rich orange with a side order of mandarin. Some marmalade on the light dry finish. No grapefruit, lemon or rose then (Charles Faram hop description). Nice beer though.

Rerate at Black Country Arms, Walsall. Very similar to first rate but without the buttery notes. Hops taste more astringent, which isn't my style really but it's a noticeable improvement on my last try. 3.2. ---- Cask at King William IV, Nottingham. Golden, clear with a fine white head. Lemony scent with apple tea. Bittersweet and astringent taste, leading to a slightly sweeter buttery finish. More apple notes in the finish. Not for me. 2.8.
