Jet Black and one to be savoured. The mouth feel is silky smooth, the nose has roasted malt and a touch of caramel. A rich deep mocha and coffee flavour, is accentuated with caramel and smoky flavours. Willamette and Goldings hops were used in 3 additions to create a ale with a big bitterness and an assertive hop character. This beer is served using a sparkler tap to allow a lightly carbonated ale, yet with a lasting and beautiful white head.

Tasting at Bruce’s new pad. Thanks to Josh for bringing this over. Opaque dark brown beer with a small pale tan head. Palate starts smooth but has a light minerally crispness. Milky dark malt and light milk chocolate. Trace of dark fruits and a whisper of spice. Light dry finish. Nice beer!

Bottle with a bit of age on it thanks to Josh. It pours darkest brown with a small light tan head. The nose is roasty, caramel, toffee, juicy, honeycomb and coffee. The taste is roasted malt, toast, dark fruit, earth, mild tartness, cocoa and coffee with a dry, roasty finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Straight-forward and rather drinkable, if a little uneventful

From a 330ml bottle on 24/8/2013. Pours black with a small fine head. Has a very pleasant, quire rich aroma of mocha and caramel. Milk chocolate and caramel are most prominent once it hits the mouth, with a hint of coffee and soy in there as well. Finishes off with a firm, satisfying and long hop bitterness, with very subtle roasty hints. Has a slightly creamy body and modest carbonation typical of an impy. Hides the 8.1% really well, and is a beautifully balanced and well integrated brew. Very nice indeed.

Bottle shared at Brew Wharf, London - many thanks to Nick! Pours black-brown with a tight, creamy brown head. Rich, ripe dark fruits in the nose, light vanilla and coconut, milk chocolate. Big sweet flavor with light roast, oily chocolate, raisins, ripe blackberries, light vanilla. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish with some sticky dark sugars, more vanilla and milk chocolate. Good balance and depth. Nice.
