BIG malt nose. Caramel. Translucent mahogany red with small cream head. Looks great in the glass. Taste develops as it warms. There’s a kind of malt biscuit thing going on. Tiny bit of bitterness in the finish very late on. Good but not great.

Draught, part of a tasting paddle, at Union Hotel in Newtown, Sydney, on July 11, 2013.Hazy copper color, tan head. Hoppy, malty, a bit roasted taste. Mineral, malty aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel with a bit high co2, medium bitterness to the dry side. Sweet, malty, fruity scent.

Pours coppery ruby with a small head.Nose is restrained but shows some sweet bready malt and nutty notes.Similar flaovurs, quite sweet with rich dark malt resulting in nut praline notes.Carbonation seems a bit high for this kind of beer.

Bottle, 11C. Amber with a cream head that’s never less than a good coat. Aroma of caramel, some nuts and chocolate, spices. Light-bodied with a slightly creamy and alive mouthfeel. Just sweet with toasted caramel and a little chocolate. Finish is dry, quite bitter and peppery. Rich enough, but the caramel is not overdone and the finish is cracklingly spicy.
