The unmistakeable Pony brand of the infinite long flavour. An exceptionally smashable APA with an uncanny blend of hops, oozing aromas of oranges, followed by an excursion through the fruit orchard. Intense tangerine flavours, hints of honey melon, mango and pine. The hop bitterness raises and lingers smoothly for a thousand years. The runaway Ponies are plotting their next move.

(Bottle) Pours hazy amber with small white head. Aroma is bread, with citrus notes, light body, good carbonation. Taste improves on aroma. A pleasant balance of light somewhat bready malt and citrus tang. There’s some nice bitterness in the finish. I detected oranges in the mix sometimes, but pretty subtle considering the name and hype on the bottle. Very drinkable.

Tap at the Ballarat Beer Festival 2018. Poured a hazy light amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is malt, light orange citrus hop. The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a grainy malt, light fruit light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. Didn’t live up to the expectation.

It has a strong scent of orange peel that largely overwhelms grapefruit and breadcrumbs. That imbalance is also present on tasting and the problem is compounded by a thin palate. I love Prancing Pony, but this is not their best.

330ml bottle into shaker. Nose of umami, grass, pepper, distant fruit and malt. Cloudy golden beer with frothy white head. Steady fine carbonation. Pretty standard APA except the usual earthy hop blast has been replaced by a more ’refined’ orange note. Long lingering finish. Very nice, easy drinking.

Keg at the CP&K, 06/03/17. Golden blonde with a decent off white head. Nose is tangerine, straw, melon, toasted grains, light hop notes. Taste comprises lemon rind, orange peel, straw, toasted bread, melon. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with light hop bitterness. Entry level kind of an APA ... doesn’t really pull out of 2nd gear.
