Bottle. Hazy yellow body with a big white head. Aroma is peat, peat and some more peat with bacon and smoked ham. Flavor is the same peat dominated thing, no balance really just very peaty and sweet. I guess this is one of these typical love or hate kind of beer, but I actually find myself a bit in the middle. It’s not bad at all and there is actually some kind of balance to be found here, getting a bit used to this it’s kinda nice. Still pretty one dimensional but I think its made in a nice and uncompromising way. This is not just a silly novelty beer, this is some kind of experiment that end up god on its own premises. It has been done before and as far as I remember this tastes more than less the same as Nøgne Ø 100% Peat from about 5 years ago. It’s kinda nice and definitively fun for the open mind beer taster.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Yoav's place. Clear golden. Bonfire, peaty smokiness, ashtray, malt, a bit of fruitiness, sweetish and slightly sourish.

Heftig op de rook, maar duh! Moet niet te veel opwarmen, dan wordt het wel werken.

10/6/2019. Bottle, sample, courtesy of danlo, cheers Ed! Pours almost clear slightly pale gold with a small foamy off-white head. Initial aroma shocks! Takes a while to even get near the glass (missed the don't f'ing sniff it' warning hidden in the information). Peat, creosote, wood-burner, soot, heavy smoked cheese, herbal ointment, and some late developing citrus orange. Light sweetness, medium to heavy bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, average carbonation. So much going on, and after a while started to appreciate it a lot more. Left a finish of yesterday's cigar (which in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing as that is normally one sign it was a good night!). And the more of this beer I tried the more I found it enjoyable. Though not too sure why.

330ml bottle from Hop Burns & Black. Slightly hazy golden colour, white foam head leaving some lacing and aroma of smoked, peaty, tar. Taste is smokey, peaty, phenolic, tar, burnt plastic with some pale malt. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry smokey peaty finish. OK, dominated by the smoked peat notes.

330ml bottle. Pours very lightly hazed golden with a white cap. Aroma: bucket loads of smoked peat phenols, also smokey bacon. Taste: light sweet with peat dominating everything, more smokey bacon, charred wood. Medium bodied, average carb, long light dry smokey finish. A marmite beer for sure but I like it

330ml bottle from Vinmonopolet Langnes. Foamy white head slowly fading over a near clear body. Crocheted lacing on the glass. Smoked malts on the nose with a prominent bacon scent. Nice peaty malts to the taste profile, lasting throughout. Fine depth. Like it. (Watching the world cup match between Croatia and England on TV, Tromsø 11.07.2018).
