Gramarye is the practice of learning magic. For thousands of years, people have used a grimoire (book of magic) to cast spells and summon spirits. Of course, magic fell out of favor over the centuries, the same as brewing with rye. Interest in magic seems to be on the upswing these days, and so is the interest in brewing with rye. A coincidence? This is our take on session pale ale made with a dose of rye malt to give it that luscious feel and snappy finish. We think it is magical.

(Bottle) Hazy coppery amber with good dense off-white head. Lovely aroma - floral hops over toast with hints of pine and honey. Medium body with excellent carbonation - velvety and bright. Good session beer taste - not heavy or rich, but with rye giving unusual bread notes to the malt, and some nice crisp bitterness in the finish. A very quaffable American Pale Ale.

Part of the 1000  at AQ Bevolution’s Event at Kamikaze 4.8% a slightly cloudy orange pour with a citrus, apricot & spicy rye aroma. The taste is fruity then spicy with a dry puckering bitter finish & a pleasurably lingering fruity aftertaste. I like it. Tastier in a chalice than a pint.

Bottle, 22oz. A hazy, dark golden to amber beer with a two-finger, off-white head leaving some curtains. The aroma feels a little bit one-dimensional hop pellets-like piney. Some citrus peel and maltyness escapes the glass too though. It’s a bit thin on the palate, with a very soft carbonation. Pine cones, citrus peel and some sweetness, and of course, a nice bitterness in the flavor. Lasting bitterness, but the rest of the flavor fades quickly. Considering the ABV, it’s certainly a nice one, else it’s a bit boring. 130808

Another great bomber from bhensonb; he is so generous!! Nose is rye bread, sweet caramel, and light floral and citrus. Clear copper orange with a small offwhite head. Flavor is moderately bitter, white peppery, and lightly spicy. Darn good for a 4.4% beer.

Bottle - Heretic tasting at Artisan Wine Depot. Pours clear amber with a small white head and some lacing. Aroma is caramel, rye, toast, and hay. Flavor is much the same with a light spicy bitter finish. Light bodied and a bit watery, but at 4.4% ABV that is understandable. Not bad, but not my thing
