16/10/2022. Bottle from Dan Murphy’s. Pours clear amber brown with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma of malt, toffee, biscuit, bread, fruit and flowers. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium body, quite smooth, average carbonation. Pretty well done ESB.

A nice new world ESB with lots of caramel and biscuit and a bit of chocolate combined with bitter new world citrus hops. Slight metallic taste is the only drawback. Leaves a nice, warm aftertaste of a caramel biscuit.

Tap at the Napier Hotel, Melbourne. Poured a murky medium brown with a frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is malt, light woody metallic hop. The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a dry malt, light watery, light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. An ESB? I really don't think so. Way too light, over carbonated and lacks body & defining flavours.

I really think the ESB title is misleading as it really is more of an APA than anything. Copper with a white head. Rustic hop aroma with a medium malt profile and some sweetness. Round malty finish leads to a dryer hop aftertaste. Quite hoppy with a hefty fruit tone. Very enjoyable once I got past thinking it was going to be an ESB.

2015 rating: Hazy light amber, earthy caramel and piney hops, and similar balance on the palate. Earthy with a floral, almost spicy accent. Good bitter.

2013 rating: Hazy fruity, almost English-tasting. Good complexity, caramel malts. Clean yeast but otherwise English-tasting. Not particularly distinctive. 7-4-7-4-15 = 3.7

(Bottle) Clear golden with good of-white head. Lovely floral aroma with hints of passionfruit and undertones of toffee. Medium body with excellent carbonation. Rich caramel foretaste moves to an excellent bitter finish. Overall a very good beer.
