Bottle from Slow Beer, Fitzroy, Melbourne. I was hoping to keep this for a little while, but the bottle actually exploded in my rucksack,on the way home, coating my laptop and other possessions in beer! Poured a clear dark Brown with a fizzy, short-lived off white head. The aroma is malt, grassy hop citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a citrus malty woody resin hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle from Beerlovers, tasted at Zil Verne’s Tasting.Very dark brown color with medium light beige head. Aroma of citrus hops, zest, light coffee. Taste, caramel malt, cirus hops with zest, pines, light oranges, light notes of chili in finish. Medium long hoppy biter finish with very light coffee notes. Tasty.

(Bottle) Pours clear deep brown with red highlights, and a huge thick beige head. Lovely aroma: mainly citrus, pine hints, chocolate notes. Nice palate: medium body with creamy soft but plentiful carbonation. Taste is a little bit of a disappointment. It’s dominated by some rather burnt roast malt flavours. Over this there is some pleasant refreshing zesty orange and some chocolately hints. There’s bitterness in the finish and a tiny hint of chili burn there too. Unusual, interesting, but the taste seems to have a bit too much burnt bitterness.

Bottle from Craftissimo with S back home. Dark cola brown pour with big puffy light tan head. Aroma is roasty and dusty nutty like a plain sort of stout. Taste is sort of like a hoppy brown ale in its nuttiness and roasted bitterness, not really much chili taste, except maybe a little in the finish. A bit disappointing but not bad at all.

500ml bottle into shaker. Earthy hoppy nose with orange rind obvious, a little chocolate malt in the background. Very dark brown with thin solid foamy head. Medium bodied with a little zing on the tongue. Taste is crisp and bitter. Finish is grainy and dry with the orange zest becoming more prominent. Beautifully balanced beer with the bitterness of the hops and the rye graininess complemented by the light tangy sweetness of the orange. Can’t find any chillies though.
