How big do you reckon the biggest ever Black Forest cake was? Well, it was pretty freakin' big! Weighing 3,000kg and packed full of sour cherries, cacao and a whole lotta love... Just like this stout! Imagine trying to fit that in ya cake hole!

Can from Beer 52. Has an aroma of fruity jam – I guess cherries, but could be strawberry. There’s some chocolate lurking behind it too. Pours a very dark brown. Normally no head, but it you manage to force one, it’s dark beige. In the mouth the sourness of the cherries hits first before the chocolate comes along and smothers it with sweetness. There’s hints of vanilla and treacle too. Plenty going on heer – I just wish it tasted a bit more like beer !

330ml can. Jet black colour with average, frothy to creamy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, beige to tan head. Toasty, chocolately, dark malty aroma, fruity notes of cherry, dark chocolate biscuit, cocoa, kirschwasser, Black Forest gateau, a touch of roasted nuts. Taste is slightly dry and bitter, roasty, chocolately dark malty, fruity notes of cherry, morello, some kirschwasser, dry cocoa. Minimally watery texture.

Bottle. Black beer with a light brown coloured strong head. The aroma is nicely roasted with some milkyness. The flavour is bitter and roasted with a smooth milkyness. Overall a nice milk stout.

(Bottle) Pours Black with short-lived tan head. Lovely aroma - dark toffee, chocolate, vanilla, hints of cherries. Medium body, well carbonated. Taste has lovely balance of rich dark flavours and bright fresh flavours. The fruity flavours are cherries and berries. The richer flavours are chocolate, dark toffee, burnt sugar, hints of vanilla. Very nice.

Taster at Sydney beer festival. Sweet chocolate nose. Black beer with foamy white head. Good lacing. Lightly carbonated with a sweet caramel finish. Not particularly stout-like but light and fun.

From a 330ml bottle on 7/10/2017. Pours a deep brown with a ll head. The nose gives you some cherry and roasty notes. Not overly sweet, the flavour features dark chocolate, cherry, cocoa, vanilla, followed by a light, dry, roasty, tart bitterness. Light to medium body, average carbonation. Pleasant enough but not really my kind of stout.
