Mother of the grapefruit and the orange, pomelo shares characteristics of both. We use its fresh juice to give a complementary fruit-filled complexity to the dank, tropical citrus flavors provided by American hops.

On tap at Pasteur Street, pours an opaque cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out resinous hops, some dry bready malt and a touch of pine. Flavour is cloyingly sweet, with sweet caramel malt and subdued resinous hops. Way too much malty sweetness. Not too good.

Bottle at home, thanks to my brother for bringing it all the way from Saigon! Pours a murky orange, almost no head. Aroma is very juicy, new England style IPA. Pomelo, grapefruit and citrus fruit in general dominate. Pomelo is really intense (as is grapefruit)! Aroma is delicious. Bitter and fruity mouthfeel. Flavour is still fruity and moderately bitter, but not as pronounced as in aroma. Very nice and refreshing IPA.

Tap at the HCMC brewpub. Poured a murky straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt, skunky Pomelo I presume, nutty, woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter light sweet with a fresh fruity woody light resin hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.
