Honkingly good ale! A delightfully full flavoured beer, rich to the palate and displaying a rounded fruity aroma with hints of dark fruit, punching above its weight, this is a great beer for both the goose and the gander.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Appearance - deep amber, to almost chestnut. Nicely proportioned, fluffy, white head. Nose - notes of cake, toffee, raisins. Taste - yeah, cake notes again. Burnt raisin, light molasses. Palate - just about medium in body. Rich texture and then dry, lightly roasty/biscuity on the finish. Overall - yes, good.

7/12/2019. Cask at the Station Hotel, Ipswich. Pours clear dark amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, dried fruit, nut and flowers. Medium sweetness and light to moderate bitterness. Moderate body, watery oily texture, soft carbonation.

Cask @ Railway, Hebden Bridge. Clear copper with a creamy head. Itโs a very light malty bitter with a fruitiness.

Cask at the Crown, Hazlemere, 29/12/16. Dark amber with a decent off White head. Nose is rather thin and uninspiring, light toffee, faint fruit rinds, pinch of spice, biscuit. Taste comprises toffee, earthy tones, light malt base, twiggy tang, biscuit. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a light bitter edge. Pretty boring affair.

Handpull cask at the Champion of the Thames. Ruddy brown, clear with a thin white head. Beer looks fairly flat once the head dissipates. Maltissimmo aroma with some red berry and sweet potato notes. A vast improvement in thr taste which balances the malt hit with bittersweet fruitiness: strawberry and a hint of rosehip. Long finish is a notch more bitter than anything thatโs come before. I like this although the malt is too heavy for me to love it.

Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear medium amber with a bubbly white head. The aroma is malt, woody hop. The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a light watery hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

33cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. A golden amber pour with a ring of white head; spicy malt aroma; sweet malt taste with a touch of spice; and a caramel finish. A pleasant malty bitter.

Cask handpump at The Pear Tree, Hook Norton, Saturday 23rd January 2016 in the company of Mum and Keith A copper coloured beer with a slim white to off white head atop. A malty beer with fruity and even light spicy element, sweet orange in particular standing out.A7 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.3
