Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a medium sized foamy cream head. Is slow to settle but does so eventually. There’s malts, chocolate and cola in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet but with a little underlying bitterness. The texture is creamy almost like syrup. Roasted malts and chocolate in the flavour with nuts and treacle coming later. A little bitterness in the finish. This is OK, but too sweet and cloying for my tastes.

Half-pint, cask ale at Craven Arms. Off-white head leaving spotty lacing on the glass, dark reddish-brown body. Lightly roasted chocolate malty nose, promising. Rather sweet taste of cocoa-chocolate, and earth. Smooth, sweet malty ending, lightly roasted. Decent. (Birmingham, 22.04.2025).
