A collaboration with La Débauche, this is an aromatic beer, rich in cinnamon, ginger and clove notes. The spices, particularly ginger, compliment the earthy, roasted tea flavours as well as maltiness from the grains. Lactose mellows the bold flavours and encourages you to take another sip.

Slightly aged sample Towering beige-brown head, slowly giving way to black beer. Mint immediately, then cinnamon, and more spices, halfway between Chinese five spices and chai masala. Spicy, exotic spices, roast, rusty-metallic flavours. Peppery, charred spanish peppers with the sweetness arriving behind. Very thick, rich feel, pepperheat, good carbonation. If I really have to catch my impression of this beer in a phrase, this ought to be it: it tastes like a Hindu celebrating Christmas. Thanks, Jezza!

330ml bottle. Quasi black colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting and lacing, beige to tan head. Spicy and dark malty aroma, hints of ginger, coriander, a touch of cumin and cinnamon, tea. Taste is slightly sweet, roasty dark malty, notes of ginger, hints of cinnamon, cumin, some coriander, liquorice and treacle interludes; peppery spicy finish. Not fully harmonious.

Bottle shared at Leighton’s place, 27/06/2016. Many thanks to Leighton for this one. Gusher! A hazed mahogany brown coloured pour with a frothy light tan head. Aroma is huge big spicy nutmeg, cinnamon, dry musty easrthy nutty malts. Flavour is composed of heavy handed spicy nutmeg cinnamon, yankee candle, nutty malts and some brown sugars. Palate is prickly carboantion, dusty, spritzy. Tooo much spice.

Bottle at Bespin, thanks to LKS, 27/06/16. Hazed chestnut brown with a big old light beige head of bubbles. Nose is plastic strokes, herbal notes, spice, curry powder. Taste comprises herbal notes, green tea, spice, biscuit, curry powder, ginger, christmas cheer. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, semi drying close. So so ... does what it says on the tin but not something I’d bother with again.

Bottle shared in London - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours brown with a billowing, off-white head. Bit of a gusher. Big spicy nose, some gingerbread, cinnamon. Lig to medium sweet flavour with more cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, well toasted bread, hints of cocoa. Light to medium bodied with lively carbonation. Novel finish, with more well toasted bread, a little chili spice, more nutmeg and cinnamon, bittersweet cocoa. Good novelty beer.

The taste is smooth, roasted malt, bitter - sweet, chai latte, ginger, clove, cinnamon, mocha, earth, charred wood, toffee and coffee with a sweet - spiced finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carboantion. Interesting.

Opaque brown beer, good tan head. Nose of cardamon, ginger and a little herb. Palate is smooth with good fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, touch of dark chocolate. Sweetish spices. Cloves and cinnamon, mellow ginger and that cardamon like something carries over from the nose. Smooth creamy dark chocolatey finish. An exceptionally smooth and well integrated spiced stout. Not too many like this around.

Bottled 330ml (Saveur Biere)
Dark brown color, small brownish head. Aroma has strong spiceyness: allspice, cardamon, clove. Light to medium-bodied. Ginger bread, toasted malts, sweetish but not lactic flavor. Suprised to read that this one has Garam masala spices as has strong Christmas beer feeling. Weird brew is not my big favourite, but you can feel that the base beer is very well brewed.

Tap at Cherry Reds, Birmingham. Poured almost black with a frothy off white head. The aroma is dry spicy, red berry fruit. The flavour is moderate sweet with a spicy pepper, cloves, cinnamon, light zesty saccharin, lavender floral palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
