No head as expected on this 10 year old Stout but sat on an oily dark brown coloured body.
Marmite, beef & stock cubes aroma.
Medium to full bodied, smooth & soft thinning out to a cloying back.
Liquorice, roasted, malt, burnt & beefy tastes with an extremely bitter finish.
Is this too old? - I'm not sure.
The tastes must have changed & sweetness disappeared but it's been stored well.
Very good.

44cl Blik van Etre Gourmet. Zwarte kleur, beige kraag. Gebrande mout, melasse, chocolade, koffie, drop, rozijntjes, mja het is goed maar ik had toch meer verwacht. Resultaten uit het verleden… medium body.

Bottle at Speciaalbier Café De Markies, Leeuwarden. Aroma is extremely roasty with coffee, syrupy notes, dark chocolate, roasted and burnt malt, soft vanilla, charcoal, notes of dark fruits, mild liquorice. Flavour is medium sweet and rather heavily roasted bitter. Body is full. Very nice, potent flavour and aroma, bold Stout.

I shared a 33 cl bottle, vintage 2023, with Manxman friend, Frank, recently before dinner. It poured black as black can be followed by a moderate head of dark tan foam that receded slowly to a distinct ring around the glass. The smell was chocolate, scorched grain and booze. And the drink was bakers chocolate, burnt toast, a bit of brown sugar, alcohol and hay. There was smoothness in the sensation and a slight bitterness finishing. Quite tasty and appreciated.

(Bottle) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with black coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice, oak wood, bourbon, vanilla and raisins. Malty, roasted, vinous taste with notes of espresso, dark chocolate, cacao, oak wood, bourbon, vanilla, treacle, raisins, liquorice and a generous cacao bitterness in the finish. Full body, quite sweet. Rich and tasty, with a generous bourbon wood character. Very nice.

2014 bottle. Creamy brown head on a mahogany coloured body. Roasted, liquorice, chocolate & bitter tastes with a huge boozy finish. Lost a bit of body but this aged very well.

0,33l can from Alko. Very dark brown, almost black beer with small beige head on the edges of the glass. Aroma has roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee and some alcohol. Flavor has sweet caramel, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, cocoa and some vanilla. Some bitterness too with long warming aftertaste. Good one.
