Kombine 2025 is an unfiltered, full-bodied blond beer (6% ABV) with a subtle hoppy aroma. A first for St.Bernardus as we have never before brewed a bottom-fermented beer. Additionally, this beer does not undergo bottle fermentation, another first in our brewing tradition. And if that was not challenging enough, we also committed to brewing this according to the German Reinheitsgebot*! We used Weihenstephan’s yeast and a blend of hops from both our own and Weihenstephan.

Connoisseurs will recognize the ‘oxymoron’ or the apparent contradiction in the beer’s style and name. An unfiltered Helles is, by definition, a contradiction. We find this tension incredibly intriguing, as it mirrors the duality of our brewery: our beers are iconic and steeped in tradition and authenticity, yet we also enjoy pushing boundaries to appeal to the adventurous beer drinker.

Bread, caramel nose with skunky overtones. Hazy amber, medium head. Caramel, lemongrass, bread crust. Medium body moderate carbonation. Elements of both an ESB and Helles. I like it.

Bottle from the Packie enjoyed at home. Pours a lightly cloudy deep gold color with a bubbly white head that persists. Rich bready crackery toasty malts with earthy hops to counter. Decadent beverage that I thoroughly enjoyed, I should have bought more than a single.

Aromas are malt, dry grass and a little bit of Belgian yeast. Flavors are similar to nose, slightly on the sweet side with enough carbonation and bitter to balance. Drinkable but nothing special at all.

330ml bottle at Hops & Bottles. Cloudy golden pour, ring of bubbly white head. Fruity aroma, hint of Belgian yeast, notes of lemon, bread dough. Taste opens with some light Belgian yeast character, fruity, biscuity than tapering off to a light crisp hoppiness at the finish. The best of Belgium and Germany rolled into one. Consider me a fanboy .

330 mL bottle. Pours a hazy, yellow color, with a smaller, foamy, white head. The nose is orange peel, heavy coriander, caramel, juniper, and biscuit. Sweet and yeasty, with a fairly big, resinous bitterness. Medium body, sticky, and chewy. Nice, estery, and hoppy.

Draught @ Fox & Hounds Sønderborg on Øllets Dag 2025. Pours nearly clear straw with small white head. Clear aroma of malt amd fruit, with estery touches and notes of paper. Bitter flavour of hops, with notes of citrus and malt, and estery and fruity touches. Malty and bitter aftertaste. Reasonable, but quite fruity for the style.
