Kombine 2025 is an unfiltered, full-bodied blond beer (6% ABV) with a subtle hoppy aroma. A first for St.Bernardus as we have never before brewed a bottom-fermented beer. Additionally, this beer does not undergo bottle fermentation, another first in our brewing tradition. And if that was not challenging enough, we also committed to brewing this according to the German Reinheitsgebot*! We used Weihenstephan’s yeast and a blend of hops from both our own and Weihenstephan.
Connoisseurs will recognize the ‘oxymoron’ or the apparent contradiction in the beer’s style and name. An unfiltered Helles is, by definition, a contradiction. We find this tension incredibly intriguing, as it mirrors the duality of our brewery: our beers are iconic and steeped in tradition and authenticity, yet we also enjoy pushing boundaries to appeal to the adventurous beer drinker.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Bready grains with grassy and citrussy notes. Notes of straw and lemon. Crisp and refreshing, somewhat dry with a light to mild bitterness. Lots of bready grains in the finish. An ace collab.

0.33 l bottle from 'Mr. Hop', best before August 2026. Minimally hazy, golden with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, slightly malty and a bit grassy-spicy aroma of grains, some straw and traces of lemon peel. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, a bit grassy-spicy taste of grains, straw, some vanilla and hints of lemon peel, followed by a short, gently bitter finish. Medium body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. A little thicker but fairly generic Helles, nothing special actually.

Bottle. Nice collab! Color: Hazy golden, white head. Aroma: Grainy, hoppy notes. Taste: Grainy, bread, subtle fruity notes of stone fruit and hints of citrus. Hoppy backbone. Dry-ish, more hoppy finish. Medium body, average carbonation. Lightly foamy mouthfeel. Moderate sweet and bitter. Enjoyable Keller bier.

0,33 l bottle. Cloudy pale golden in the glass with a stable and more than one finger white foamy head. Surprisingly sweet popcorn aroma, fruity background. Taste is soft malty with increasing caramell. Yeast and pale bread, honey. Below average carbonation. Soft bitterness. Nice one.

Bottle picked up from Hereford Beer House and consumed at home Sunday 15th June after a short walk up to the local Gasthof zum Sonnewald Schöfweg. The weather has been glorious today and we cooked Fritas (burgers) from the Gourmet Burger book with Tomato Sofrito, it was very nice, not the best from the book but definitely amongst the top third. Pours mid gold with a very slight haze and mid sized rapidly departing white head. Cereal on the nose, a little bready, yeastiness also shows, these are all present in the mouth. Nice softness, it's difficult to categorise, but it's exactly what you would imagine would occur when two highly renowned breweries from Belgium and Germany collaborate. It's a real blend of what these breweries do best but on this occasion it sits 60/40 in favour of the Belgian influence to German and yet Loz can only get Helles, it's very interesting, very good and I really like it, however it's a little bit muddled, not a bad thing but that's how it is.
