Created by brewers Jon Tillson and Dave Carter at the Wychwood Brewery in Witney to deliver their take on the American influenced style of pale ale, made with a blend of darker malts. This produces a deceptively darker beer with a refreshingly big fruity hop character from a blend of six different hop varieties.

On keg at Alexander Graham bell. Appearance -cloudy red yo chestnut. Nice head. Looks quite beautiful. Nose - not a lot. Some toffee. Taste - toffee and astringent malt. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long but astringent finish. Overall - mutton dressed as lamb. Lookef great until you scratched the surface.

Sampled at Craft Beer Rising 2014 - Brick Lane, London. Keg. ours clear brown with a thick, beige cream head. OK beer. Lightly toasted bready malts form the core, with other notes of light toffee and citrus fruits. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with more toasty brown bread, light earth and pine bitterness. Very basic but acceptable.

Bottle from Tesco Cheriton in Folkestone and drunk at home trying to obliterate England’s latest cricket humiliation. Dark brown ruby clear lasting beige head. Well it’s not a black IPA. It’s a hoppy mild. Premium bitter at a stretch but a mild I’d say. Hoppy though especially for a Bank’s beer. Nice, good body and condition which I get from a lot of Bank’s beers, the mouthfeel is always good. Disappeared quickly so it must have been decent. Good digestive biscuit. Good beer, just not a black IPA.
