On handpull at the Lumsden. Pours ruby black. Coffee, toast, blueberry, biscuit, little cocoa. Smooth body, lovely on that handpull. Good stuff.

Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark mahogany with a long lasting frothy tan head. The aroma is light smoky roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, creamy caramel. The flavour is smoky malt bitter with a smooth, light roasty, burnt toffee palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

On tap at Pomeroy’s, Christchurch. Pours, guess what, pitch black! Typical dense stout head, medium size. Smoky, but not too much. Liquorice, but not too much. Good beer.

Draft at Pom’s, courtesy of staff, thanks! Very dark maroon brown color, thin tan head. Aroma of coffee and Kahlua. Taste is bitter coffee and unsweetened cocoa. Nice.

Pours black with a lasting tan head.Nose shows roasted coffee and cocoa. Quite sweet-smelling really, not all that much roasted malt.Flavours are more roasty, with little of the complexity found in the aroma. Some bready malt.Body feels a bit watery and is over-carbonated.

From a 330ml bottle on 11/10/2011. Pours close to pitch black with a big head. Has quite a strong smoky, lightly roasted malt aroma. The flavours are relatively subdued, with more roasted malt and a little bit of milk chocolate. Solid but unspectacular.

Black, tan head. Aroma of toast, chocolate, milky coffee, prunes. Taste has light roasted malt, pruney sourness (I don’t know whether this a fault or a feature, but it’s really too much) and coffee. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Dry finish with a little bitterness.

(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy black with a small light brown head. Lightly tart aroma of burned malt. Medium body with hard roasted malts, some accents of metal and blood and then a distinct acidity. This is clearly infected but actually comes out very refreshing – almost like a Flemish Sour. 250308

Bottled. A pitch black beer with no head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of chocolate, but also a hint of acidity. The flavor is acidic with notes of malt and chocolate - I thin it is off.
