Crosse Keys. Spoons. Cask. Clear amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and dry with decent fine carbonation. Dry malts bring a whisper of sweetness. Bitter orange peel and bitter floralness. Touch of spice. Dry finish. Utterly standard bitter but it’s all right.

Cask at the Plough, Little Downham. Dark brown with a creamy off-white head. Scent of malt, black cherry, a hint of metal. Balanced bittersweet taste, with a hint of sour cherry. Chocolate and cereal notes. Palate’s a bit thin. Agreeable sour/bitter aftertaste. Pretty darn good for the style.

Cask handpull Crosse Keys London. Clear chestnut colour. I have always liked Mauldons beers and this is decent. A little nutty on the aroma an attractive mix of malt fruit sweetness and bitter in the mouth and a lasting bitter finish. Good best bitter. Ok condition

Cask at the Seven Stars, Rugby, 03/10/14. Clear copper with a well appointed khaki covering that retains well. Nose is dark fruits, toffee, light roast, nutty tones. Taste comprises toffee, brown bread, dark fruits, hint of coffee. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with light bitterings. Decent enough bitter.
