Bottle picked up from Drankgigant webshop, Vlissengen Netherlands and consumed at the tiny 1 campervan campsite at Tachinger See, Saturday 8th July 2023 after a quick dip and swim in Tachinger See. We had Chicken and Chorizo Kebabs with a Mango Salad. Pours pitch black with a beige head, the rum show's but considering I'm not a big fan of rum barrel aged beers this is doing ok. Roasty and quite bitter it's one of the better Damnation interpretations.

BB 04/11/2022+ 5 years / vintage 10/11/2020, lot# 20220056. Où comment rendre les choses plus compliquées.
Couleur brune foncée oscillant sur le noir huile de moteur, col léger moka.
Arôme sur un bouquet marqué par les malts - chocolaté, caramel, carafa, crystal, note de cacao, café, avec un rétro-nasal plaisant de la barrique de rhum.
Palais est épais, malté, chocolaté, avoine, rondeur de bouche, cacao, caramel avec un grillé assez long sur des relents de torréfié. La barrique donne un côté frais que je retrouve souvent avec la barrique de rhum - côté un peu plus mélasse mais ici tout en douceur.
Force est de constater que Struise continue à maîtriser les gros stouts, je suppose que cette version garde la base classique de Black Damnation avec ce caractère gros stout belge sur des notes américaines.

Black with thin head and fine carbonation. Aroma and flavour hint at a subtle brown sugar, molasses, caramelised sweetness that I associate with rum but it's all quite subtle. The stout side of this dominates. Lots of malty body and a solid roasted bitterness. Very good even if the barreling doesn't shine through so intensely.

330ml @ Matt's new place. Appearance: dark brown with a beige head. Aroma: a bit malty, some dark fruits, dry, some wood character. Taste: along the same lines, roasty, moderately thick, not balanced. Overall: meh, as most of BA European dark beers I've head.

Poured from 330mL bottle (vintage 10/11/2020; bb 03/11/22). Near black with small off white head. Kind of vinous, feint mild rum notes, some cacao, needs way more barrel, but okay.

330mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small light brown head. Aroma is fairly faint, with oxidation, earthy Belgian yeast, a touch of roast, and a hint of red wine. Flavour is muted, obscured and muffled, with light red wine, oxidation, earthy notes, no hint of rum. Honestly, this is incompetent nonsense -- how can this be rated so highly? Not good at all.

Bottle. Pours ink black with a very small head. Aroma is licorice, chocolate, coffee, oak, rum, vanilla, cacao. Full body. Flavour is rich and malty, deep dark malt flavour, lots of caramel, licorice, wood, oak, rum, vanilla, light acidic and dry notes from the barrel. Finish is oaky, rum, vanilla. Excellent, needs to warm up to really shine.
