Very dark, with a dark cream head. This stout has a creamy roast malt and vanilla nose, full bodied roast malt light/medium bitter taste, with a smooth light/medium bitter dark malt finish.

[ As Mallinsons Oatmeal Stout ].
ABV: 4.5%. Clear dark brown colour with a small to average, frothy - fizzy and open, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, dark malt, sweet malt, oat, wood, licorice. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, dark malt, roasted, oat, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20190125]

Tap at Beer Dock, Nantwich, 23/03/19. Black topped with a reasonable tan covering. Nose is roast malts, chocolate, light spice, liquorice, dried fruit rinds. Taste comprises chocolate biscuit, oats, leather, toffee, aniseed, light charr. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Decent enough stout.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours black, nose is chocolate, oats, taste is smooth chocolate, light roast, sweet.

Bottle [thanks to jmgreenuk] @ home shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Very dark brown to black color, medium sized light brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Smell and taste malts, roasted malts, slightly iron, moderately bitter. Decent body and carbonation.

Bottle @ benzai. Black colour with a large beige head. Smells iron, some liquorice, ash, roasty. Tastes sweetish, brown sugar, roasty, chocolate. All very subtle though. There isn’t really a strong main taste. Thin to medium body, soft to medium carbo.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt light chocolate, coffee. The flavour is medium bitter with a strong malt bitter liqourice light grassy hop palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Cask-conditioned at the Gryphon, Bristol 1/3/2014. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Sweetish aroma of chocolate, blackcurrants and porridge oats. Easy drinking with more chocolate and fruits, some roasted malts and bitter finish. Good.

Bottle at Black Dove, Brighton. It pours very dark brown with a medium beige head. The nose is roasted malt, earth, toast, coffee, cocoa and a touch of acidity. The taste is roasted malt, toast, earth, coffee, light acidity, light treacle and salted liquorice with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Smooth, flavoursome and readily consumable. Nice work.
