Bottle, at Nærbø Ølfestival 2013. A dark, dark brown beer with a dense, finger-thick beige head leaving lacings. It’s roasted towards burnt in the aroma, with dried fruits and a faint meaty hint. Sweet flavor with roasted malts, dark dried fruits and a meaty touch. Some chili-ish notes. Full body, dry-ish and with a pleasant carbonation level. Lasting finish. A pretty nice and tasteful one. 131019

330 ml bottle, from the Norwegian importer. ABV is 7.6%. Very dark brown colour, large beige head. Aroma of fruity NZ and US hops, some mild roasty notes in the background, hints of chocolate. Medium sweet roasty flavour, also with strong hoppy notes. Coffee, dark bitter chocolate, grapefruity bitterness, resin. Excellent beer.

Aromabildet er interessant à la bipa, men smaken tar bitterheten altfor langt ut. Lammet tunge smaker lite ...

07.11.2013, 0,33l bottle @ home:
Big slightly brown creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich, dark malts, mild coffee, caramel, licorice, hops, rubber, dark sugar, chocolate, pine needles. Taste is dark malts, hops, pine needles, leafs, burnt caramel, grass, coffee. Medium to longlasting bitterness. Fair enough, think this one is more like a black IPA.

Biggish brown head. Clear deep dark red body. Earthy spicy gooseberry aroma with peppery notes. Dry-sweet earthy wooden chocolatey taste with gooseberry pepper notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish spicy chocolatey resin aftertaste with sooty burnt coffee notes. Licorice and fruit, too. The aftertaste is full, rich, vivid, and really lifts the beer several notches. (0.33l bottle, from wine monopoly, Strømmen.)

330ml bought at Vinmonopolet Tromsø Sentrum. Nice to look at with its deep dark ruby body colour topped by a firm, bubbly, fawn-coloured head that stays and laces well. Promising smell of succulent fruity hops with a touch of pine and with mid-sweet malts beneath. Fine mixed flavours of dark berries and dark fruits joined by rye and liquorice. Roasted backbone. In-depth malt bitter finish. Smooth. Enjoyed on Halloween at home with nuts and fruits for the kids and a good ale for the old man (Tromsø 31.10.2013).
