Half pint, handpulled cask, nicely served in a mug at Brewery Tap Leeds. Creamy fawn-coloured head blanketing the glass as it goes down. Deep, mahogany coloured body. Mild caramel on the nose. Taste of mid-sweet caramel malts with brittle hits. Malt-fruity ending. A tasty, easy going mild ale. 30.6.2013.

Cask at The George, Croydon. It pours deep brown with a thick beige head. The nose is earth, wood, dark fruit, berry and faint farmyard. The taste is earth, cocoa, wood, faint toast, spice, dark fruit, tart berry and mild bitterness with dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A pretty flavoursome example of style.

Cask at The Square Peg, Birmingham. Poured a deep reddish brown with a bubbly off-white head. The aroma is malty with fruit. The flavour is medium to weak bitter, malty and with a nice zesty citrus palate and lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Smooth malty mild? It’s more like a mild / bitter combo and a super ale.
