18th September 2008. Clear brown beer. Pretty malty with a light hop profile. Semi dry finish. Competant. Unremarkable.

Cask-conditioned at the brewery tap, the Lamb, Frome 6/12/08. Chestnut coloured with a moderate, off-white head. Big fruit cake aroma of fruit and nuts. Flavour was sweet with plenty of caramel, more fruit and some hops lingering in the background, before a short dry finish. Good.

Cask gravity at Rare Breeds BF 08. Russet/dark brown with lasting beige head. Really good malty beer. Dryish malt. Good fruits. Just a bit lacking on finish. Bit nutty, not bad, but as I say, something missing somewhere

(Cask at Wenlock Arms, London, 31 July) Colour is dark brown/mahogany with frothy head. Nose is malty, nutty with notes of chocolate and prunes. Taste is fruity/malty with dried fruit (prunes, raisins) and hints of chocolate. Balanced bitterness in the finish. Nice and drinkable, but hardly exciting.
